COMMUNICATION, GROWTH AND LEARNING
Gemini new moon reflection:
‘My curiosity through connection to others opens new doorways for growth’
Taurus season has come to an end, and we now enter the territory of the twins, Gemini. Ruled by Mercury the messenger of the gods, Gemini quickens our connections to each other again, we swiftly transition out of the slow and steady space of the deep dive into our values and what pleases us from the Taurus field. There is chatter in the heavens and it becomes a little more heady from here.
Chatter can scatter us, especially through social media, so be hyper aware of what you tune into. Especially with this New Moon squaring Mars in Pisces creating potential for arguments with vague directions.
When we create space in the mind and open it to the heavens, we can receive gifts of wisdom and information that is not as easily accessible at other times. A bit like writing when it all pours forth with no hesitation. But when there are too many weeds, it's hard to find the saplings of what will be glorious trees in the messy undergrowth.
New moons have become my favourite time of the moon’s cycle. The quietening of energy, the inwards pull, the space when we rest, the fresh start. If you’ve ventured out during this pandemic at all you would have experienced this quietness as most people stay home. Or if you are a night owl you will know what stillness the darkness brings. There is space, so much space in the stillness. And I am a sucker for it. A sucker for slow living at my own pace when the rest of the world pushes on like a machine.
Ahhh the breath out of a new moon.
Gemini governs our respiratory system, nervous system our arms, hands and fingers. To focus on breathing this season will do all well and good. Especially if you have noticed a holding of breath over the last few months with a big focus on what has been attacking the lungs. Peripherally, we may be holding on to so much in this area of our bodies. Now is a great time to reclaim the breath.
Following the breath on its journey out through the oesophagus, throat, nose and mouth, it makes sense that communication is a focal point for Gemini. When we breathe deeply our nervous system relaxes. And when we stretch out into our finger tips we are reaching into the spaces between ourselves and another.
The twins are in constant communication with each other, this connection echos in the theme of this next moon cycle during Gemini season - Communication, Growth and Learning. Our curiosity through connection to others opens new doorways for growth that alone we may not have had access to. Connection is important here and with out a doubt there will be a focus on our connections and relationships with Venus doing a retake.
Gemini is full of ideas and loves to discuss them at full speed while distracted by anything shiny in their vicinity, that leads to another train of thought, that streams out in a word barrage of colourful and delightful language skills making you wonder how it is physically or lyrically possible to fit that many words into a sentence, that make yours ears prick up many times in entertainment, while confusing and astonishing you that they didn’t run out of breath. That my friends is a Gemini sentence.
In fact this Gemini season will be loaded with reviews. Not the type you read in a magazine about a shiny new cafe. Life reviewing. Revisiting, re-imagining, re-aligning, re-membering. Not only do we have Venus retrograde, we also have Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto and right at the end of Gemini season Mercury too.
This new moon is a great time to plant seeds for new ideas. Scheming up new ways of connecting, real connection and re-evaluating what you have. Write them down, writing is intensified with Gemini. Even if it is a simple journal entry on what you want to bring forth, especially around connections and communication, or perhaps lack there of.
A mental commitment perhaps? To create more space for new ideas to flow, just for more space in our minds, or to strengthen our discernment of what we put in hungry heads. Focus may be a challenge to begin, with Mercury and then Venus squaring Neptune. It's all a bit hazy, but there is lots going on.
We enter eclipse season in early June, enjoy this light, zippy space between now and when the Sagittarius full moon takes us into the beginning of eclipse season (June 6, viewable in Australia and some parts of the Southern Hemisphere).
Pay attention to your dreams and the messages in them. There may be psychic downloads as the south node aligns with the galactic centre. Think of this as the cosmic guidance line through to the eclipse in June and beyond. Listen with your intuition, trust your gut, but be aware we can be easily carried away on the whimsical winds of fantasy and nostalgia, or wishing away our now.
If you want to analyse your past, be it relationships, connections or life’s happenings, go through your old photos, these will definitely spark areas of interest and reminders of things that may need addressing or revisiting. Maybe an ex pops back into your field or memories of old lovers come up as reminders of times spent together, Venus IS retrograde. Take the good times with the bad, there is always a reason connections move on, and fixating on one side or the other doesn’t tell the truth of the whole story.
Gemini brings a feeling of everything all happening at once, which for some can be overwhelming, especially noticeable after the slowing and deepening of Taurus season. You are in control of what you let in, and out, take care of your boundaries.
As always, rest, get enough sleep, stay committed to a movement practice, indulge the desire to have sleepy days, journal and write out the feelings, talk kindly to each other, connect, and perhaps learn something new to satisfy the hungry mind with no pressure.
Go gentle in these times.
And enjoy a little lightness.
