Sun enters Sagittarius
22nd PST 6:03 / 23rd AEDT 1:03
The sun enters mutable fire-sign Sagittarius today, our resulting confidence and candor a direct response to the passionate, yet private disposition adopted during Scorpio season. If, while the sun transited Scorpio, we assumed the worst, our expectations now trend almost irresponsibly idealistic. Where scrutiny and skepticism may have failed us in past weeks, here a brazen “anything goes” approach to life steers our egoic ship onto ever more exotic shores.
Sagittarius’ motto is “I discover”. This is the purview of the explorer, the theologian, and the wandering sage. The sun’s presence in this sign indicates that is not the time for thinking or acting small. This is a time to stand in our truth, contemplate our purpose, and pursue opportunities that we’d ordinarily decline in the name of common sense. With optimism as our north star, we can skirt disaster. A narrow escape is still an escape – and it makes for a good story!
What we DO want to be cautious of in the coming days, is the notion that *our* truths are more valid than another’s truths. It’s an easy mistake to make. The kind of learning the Sagittarian sun encourages can’t be found in books. It must be garnered through experience. And having an experience *personalizes* truth. It can blind us to diverse realities. It can inadvertently make us a less flexible and tolerant person, even as we attempt to understand alternative perspectives.
Meeting someone new in a foreign country is nice. But that interaction is probably even *nicer* when you discover what you have in common. This is the paradox of Sagittarius: even as we explore the world in all its variety, it is *shared* beliefs that tend to be recalled with enthusiasm. Do we really want to question what we think we know about ourselves and each other? Do we truly take pleasure in seeing reality through a stranger’s eyes? Or do we quietly and naively hope that unifying convictions will make our journey more smooth?
Good food for thought for the season.
